The following screen shows a typical downloading in progress.
The context menu in the search window (right click on a selected user) offers
more information regarding a user who is offering files to download as shown
below.
Download.
This option starts the downloading process of the selected file and displays the
Transfer window.
Manually Download.
WinMX will prompt you for some manual options before starting the downloading
process.
Download Group.
A group is a collection of files with similar or slightly different file names
but WinMX knows that their contents are identical. Select this option to download
from all available users instead of the first one found.
Collapse.
This option collapses the display of a downloaded group.
Browse.
This option displays all shared files this user has to offer. It may be a good
idea to see how many files there are by doing a Whois first. Some users offer
tens of thousands of files so the display can take some time. This is a good
option to see if the user has good, quality contents and he/she falls into your
category of interest.
Add To HotList.
If you find a favorite user or a new friend on the networks, you can add his/her
screen name to the HotList window.
Whois.
This option provides a brief summary of the selected user. For example,
User Name: Thanks-4-Sharing289_14538
Connection Type: Cable
Files shared: 454
Elapsed time online: 11:54:13
Transfer Status: 99 in queue (0 of 1 available)
SendMessage.
You can send a message to this user. However, it is not guaranteed that the user
will respond, read or even receive your message.
Chat.
You can open a chat window with a user you know.
