This guide presents step-by-step explanations on how to design video clips for seamless motion video background in a DVD menu using Adobe Premiere. Seamless motion video provides the smooth transition from the end of a video segment back to its beginning without any noticeable discontinuity of playback. In this guide, Adobe Premiere 6.5 is used to produce the desired effect in the final video clip. This technique will work with any Premiere version. If you are unfamiliar with Adobe Premiere, this guide shows you as a potential DVD author an attractive low-cost and uncompromising avenue to author seamless motion video for producing commercial grade DVD motion menu.

The sample video is provided in the MPEG-4 AVI format to deliver the video file in size as small as possible without sacrificing video quality. Since Premiere supports a wide range of video formats, the technique explains in this guide will work with popular video format such as digital video DV in either NTSC or PAL video standard.

Seamless motion video must be carefully designed so that the looping or going back does not appear to pause or to show discontinuity momentarily with either the video or audio playback. To make the human eye less sensitive to any noticeable transition, the fade-in and fade-out effects of a title are applied to the first few seconds at the beginning and at the end of the video clip. The following video clip without audio demonstrates the technique explained in this guide.
